All staff at Jane Addams HS believe that children learn best when schools collaborate with parents as equal partners in their children’s education. Parents can partner with schools by promoting a culture of literacy and high expectations at home and at school. They can participate in school events and on committees, in addition to volunteering and serving in parent centers. Our goal is to develop a welcoming environment for parents while offering them a variety of opportunities to partner with the our school and community to improve student achievement so that all students will graduate from Jane Addams HS prepared for college and future career endeavors.
The 2020-2021 school year will begin on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 and due to COVID-19 and student safety, students will continue with distance learning for this semester. Please register to access the parent portal so you can monitor and keep track of your child’s schedule and academic progress. The instructions for accessing your parent portal can be found here. As part of the opening day procedure, please have the following district mandated forms filled out for your student and submit it at the school’s office. If you cannot come to the office, you may also upload the completed forms into your parent portal for submission. Each student is required by LAUSD to have all the forms below filled out and on file for the new school year. Thank you for your cooperation.
During the school closure, your child is encouraged to continue with his/her school work and class assignments. You can find all of the resources on the LAUSD Schoology page for each classroom teacher. Each student will sign in with their LAUSD single-sign on, and will select the course for the class that they would like to do work for. You will find postings of class assignments for the teacher located in the resources for that individual class that the student is enrolled in. You may also email the teacher(s) directly on the contact portal on our school website (https://addamshs.com/). Students who requested to take home a chromebook to work on their classes online were given one on Friday, March 13, and was asked to sign a contract for the loaned equipment. You may read the contract by clicking here. Please remind your student to adhere to the rules and policies and return the items when school reopens. Charter Spectrum will offer free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps.
